Only 20 minutes from downtown Orlando and the theme parks, historic Winter Garden is reminiscent of days gone by. But with award-winning dining and modern-day amenities one might find in an up-and-coming metropolitan area. When visiting this charming downtown, stop in one of the two museums, the Heritage Museum or Central Florida Railroad Museum, open for free 1-5 pm daily. Experience the Edgewater Hotel, built in 1927 complete with the oldest running hand-operated Otis Elevator in Florida. All of the downtown restaurants are locally-owned, and many have received numerous dining awards in recent years. Dining choices include French, Thai, Italian, American, BBQ, and fine-dining, all within walking distance of the Garden Theatre. After the show, enjoy a nice glass of wine at the local wine bar, or a "Garden Theatre Float" at the old-fashioned ice cream parlour!
