March 6, 2017 – Alauna McMillen Friskics, a key player in the rapid success of the Garden Theatre in Winter Garden, is the new executive director of the Orlando Fringe.
The two organizations made the announcement Monday afternoon.
Friskics, 40, replaces George Wallace, who had held the position at the Fringe since 2014. He left in February for IndyFringe in Indianapolis.
The only executive director the Garden Theatre has known, Friskics was the organization’s first employee, taking the post nearly 10 years ago as the venture in west Orange County was just getting under way. During her tenure, the Garden grew from a startup operating on $200,000 per year to a critically acclaimed community institution with an annual budget of $1.4 million.
“Alauna’s contributions have helped to set the foundation for our growth and success, and she should be proud of the legacy that she will leave,” said Keith Smith, president of the theater’s board of directors.
